We had an amazing family trip to Japan last June, thanks entirely to Yutori Japan! Laura and Sheena approached the planning of our trip thoughtfully, efficiently, and with such attention to detail that we felt “held” throughout our journey. We are forever grateful to our friends at Yutori.

We were tough customers, since we reached out on short notice and were traveling with four kids (ages 11 to 21) who had wide-ranging “wish lists.” The older kids wanted fashion, design, architecture, vintage clothing, and the social buzz of youth culture. The younger kids wanted noodles, dumplings, dressed-up pets, skin care shops, Don Quixote, and all forms of Japanese candy. My husband and I wanted a mix that would make everyone happy—and that is exactly what Yutori planned for us over 10 days in Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, and Kanazawa.

We stayed in delightful hotels, ranging from the traditional ryokan in Hakone (great onsens!) to the uber-hip Ace Hotel in Kyoto. The hotel breakfasts in Tokyo were legendary—which the ladies correctly predicted would be a whole-family win. Our guided bike tour through Kyoto was a total joy—a peaceful, glorious way to see so much of that charming city in a short time. And the bike tour wrapped up at a noodle house that still has our family saying “YUM.” (Laura and Sheena perfectly planned our outings and meals so that we ate very well, whether we were grabbing snacks at Family Mart or enjoying sukiyaki in an antique townhouse.)

Thanks to Yutori’s deep expertise in Japanese language, culture, and systems, our trip was flawless and so easy, from train travel and airport transfers, to meal reservations and hotel selections. The pace was right, the tours were excellent, and the interactions with Yutori were upbeat and always super helpful. I usually love to do my own research when planning our family trips—but in this case, the absolute best choice was to work with Yutori and simply trust their instincts. We were so happy we did!

Tokyo was the best part of our trip- not least for private tour through old and new Tokyo. The madness of Takeshita Dori and Harajuku in contrast to the serenity of Meiji Jingu shrine- never a dull moment!

Our spring break trip to Japan exceeded all expectations! Traveling alone with my 11-year-old son, Yutori created the perfect itinerary. I savored Ginza fashion, sushi, and temple gardens while my son was thrilled by Harajuku, sumo wrestling and especially teamLab. Watching him experience these firsts was magical. The kimono photoshoot gave us forever memories, and moments of kindness by locals brought us to tears. Yutori was available for anything we needed - I’d use them for every vacation if I could! Truly a blessing we will never forget.

Yutori demystified the big overwhelming Tokyo into an accessible, exciting, city! Being locals gives them the advantage of intimately sharing the city with their guests. In three days, we managed to do a multitude of the highlights which included eating at some of their favorite off-the-beaten-track haunts.

In planning our visit, Yutori not only planned Tokyo, but offered invaluable unique suggestions of where else to go and what else to do.

Japan was a blast! In Tokyo, exploring with a local friend gave us insights that only a local can give. Hakone's traditional ryokan and open-air museum offered a perfect cultural retreat. Kyoto truly captured our hearts with its enchanting streets, temples, and shrines - the bike tour was a family favorite, providing answers to our many questions about what we were seeing. All our hotels met our needs perfectly, particularly enjoying the onsen experience.

Our Japan trip was fantastic thanks to Yutori's planning. They created the perfect mix of famous sites and hidden local spots—we loved the Nakameguro Festival and even witnessed a special ceremony at Meiji Jingu Shrine.

The practical help made our trip so much smoother: pre-booked train tickets, restaurant recommendations (that gyoza place in Harajuku was incredible!), and their easy-to-use digital itinerary kept us organized throughout.
